About the project

Privacy should be understandable.

PrivacyStack exists to help ordinary people make practical changes without turning digital privacy into a second job.

The philosophy

Opinionated by design, transparent by default.

Endless comparison tables often make a difficult decision harder. PrivacyStack deliberately limits each task to a few strong options and explains why they may fit a regular user.

The project does not promise perfect privacy or certify products forever. It provides a reviewed starting point, links to primary sources, and encourages gradual migration.

Technical review

We inspect encryption claims, platform support, source availability, maintenance, and independent security work.

Policy review

We read privacy documentation and look for business models or data practices that conflict with the product promise.

Community experience

Documentation does not reveal everything. Long-term user experience helps expose reliability and usability tradeoffs.

Open contribution

Help improve the guide.

Correct outdated claims, suggest a missing option, improve the content model, or contribute a translation through the public repository.
